Adani Airport Holdings has established Adani Airport City Limited to develop airport-linked commercial destinations. The company plans to develop land across six airport locations covering Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati. In the first phase, Adani Airport City plans to invest more than ₹20,000 crore to develop approximately 22 million square feet of space.
The broader development plan is not limited to hotels. It also aims to bring together hospitality, retail, business and leisure facilities around major airports. For Adani Airports, the partnership creates an opportunity to generate business beyond traditional airport operations. Developing hotels and commercial facilities can help the company use airport-linked land for additional business activities.
For IHCL, the agreement provides an opportunity to expand its hotel network in important aviation markets. The company has stated that these additions will increase its presence to 25 hotels across its brand portfolio at key airports in India. The partnership also reflects a growing business opportunity in airport-based hospitality. As air travel, tourism and business activities increase, demand for hotels near airports may also rise. However, the actual financial benefits will depend on hotel construction costs, occupancy rates, room prices and operating expenses after the properties become operational.
