HEG Advanced Materials Gains +19.75%
HEG Advanced Materials (HEGAM) was among the standout performers of the session. The stock gained 19.75% to reach ₹288, showing strong buying interest from investors.
One of the major reasons behind this positive movement was the company’s September quarter financial performance. HEG Advanced Materials reported consolidated revenue from continuing operations of ₹429.94 crore for Q2 FY27. Its profit after tax stood at ₹208.89 crore.
The company also announced important expansion plans. Its board approved an increase in the planned anode material plant capacity from 20,000 tonnes to 44,000 tonnes. The expansion involves a proposed investment of ₹1,606 crore. The company also approved projects related to graphene and crucibles.
These developments attracted market attention because anode materials are important for lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
The combination of strong quarterly performance and future expansion plans appears to have supported buying interest in the stock.
MCX India Shares Fall -5.02%
While HEGAM moved higher, MCX India witnessed selling pressure. The stock declined 5.02% to ₹3,315 during the trading session.
Interestingly, MCX reported strong year-on-year growth in its September quarter results. Its consolidated net profit increased to ₹455 crore from ₹197.47 crore in the same quarter last year. Total income also increased to ₹799.66 crore.
However, the market reaction remained negative because investors also considered the company’s performance against analyst expectations.
Brokerage commentary highlighted that net profit missed estimates, while higher operating expenses and tax costs affected the results. Technology-related expenses and other costs also attracted attention.
Another possible factor was profit booking. MCX shares had seen a strong rally before the results, and some investors may have decided to book profits after the announcement.
This shows that a company can report strong profit growth but still see its share price decline if investors were expecting even better results.

What Should Investors Watch Next?
The movement in HEG Advanced Materials and MCX India highlights how differently stocks can react to quarterly results and company announcements.
For HEGAM, investors will watch the execution of its expansion plans, future financial performance and developments in the battery materials business.
For MCX, the focus will remain on trading volumes, operating costs, technology expenses and future earnings growth.
Investors should remember that a sharp one-day rise or fall does not automatically indicate a long-term trend. It is important to study company fundamentals, valuation and future business prospects before making any investment decision.
