Apple’s latest Mac lineup brings major changes, including a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro, a powerful 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip, and an updated M6 iMac. The new devices focus on better performance, display quality, AI capabilities, and productivity, offering different options for professionals, students, and everyday users.

Apple Launches First Touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro, New M6 MacBook Pro and iMac

Apple has announced a major update to its Mac lineup, bringing new features, improved performance and better AI capabilities to its computers. The latest announcements include the company’s first touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro, a new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip, and an updated 24-inch iMac with M6. These products target different users, including students, business professionals, content creators and people who need a powerful computer for everyday work. The biggest change is the arrival of touchscreen technology on the MacBook Pro, a feature Apple avoided for many years. However, buyers should understand that the touchscreen OLED model and the new M6 MacBook Pro are separate products with different hardware.

What Is New in Apple’s Latest MacBook Pro and iMac?

Apple’s new touchscreen MacBook Pro represents a major change in its laptop design. For years, the company focused on trackpads, keyboards and touch-enabled devices such as the iPhone and iPad instead of adding touchscreens to Mac computers.

The new MacBook Pro combines an OLED display with touch input, allowing users to interact with supported content directly on the screen. OLED technology can deliver deep blacks, strong contrast and rich colours, making it useful for watching videos, editing photos and working with visual content.

The redesigned laptop also introduces changes to its appearance and interface. Features such as Dynamic Island and touch-friendly software are intended to make everyday interactions more convenient. Apple is also working to make the experience useful for professional users rather than simply adding touch functionality without changing how people use the computer.

Importantly, this touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro uses Apple’s M5 Pro or M5 Max chips, according to launch coverage. It should not be confused with the separate 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring the M6 chip.

Apple has also introduced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by its M6 chip. This model focuses on performance, battery life and AI processing rather than the new touchscreen OLED design.

According to Apple’s official announcement, the M6 features a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU. These components help the laptop handle demanding applications, multitasking, creative projects and compatible AI workloads.

The company claims battery life of up to 24 hours, although actual results will depend on the applications being used, screen brightness and other settings. The laptop also includes a 12MP Center Stage camera, a six-speaker sound system and a Liquid Retina XDR display.

In India, the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 starts at ₹2,39,900. Pre-orders opened on October 28, 2026, and availability is scheduled to begin on November 6.

For people who need a powerful laptop for business, software development, video editing or professional work, the M6 model could be worth considering. Buyers should compare its performance and price with their actual requirements before upgrading.

Apple has also refreshed its 24-inch iMac with the M6 chip. Unlike the MacBook Pro, the iMac is an all-in-one desktop computer, combining the display and main computer hardware in a single design.

The updated model features a 4.5K Retina display, a 12MP Center Stage camera, improved connectivity and support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Apple says the M6 also improves graphics performance and on-device AI capabilities.

The computer remains available in seven colours: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver. Its colour-matched accessories help maintain the familiar iMac design.

In India, the M6 iMac starts at ₹1,74,900 for the configuration with a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. A higher configuration with a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU starts at ₹1,99,900. Pre-orders opened on October 28, with availability scheduled for November 6.

The iMac may suit home offices, small businesses, students and creative professionals who prefer a desktop setup with a large display.

Apple’s latest launches offer different benefits depending on the user’s needs. The touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro focuses on a new way to interact with a laptop, while the M6 MacBook Pro prioritises performance and battery life. The M6 iMac is designed for people who prefer a desktop computer.

The main consideration is price. These are premium products, and not everyone needs the latest hardware. Users with older Intel-based Macs or computers struggling with demanding tasks may benefit more from an upgrade than those whose existing devices already meet their needs.

Before buying, compare the specifications, available software features, memory and storage configurations, and total cost. The best choice is the computer that fits your workload and budget, not simply the newest product from Apple. Apple new Touchscreen MacBook P
